Olive Dunwoody has a special power - she can enter the paintings in her new house with a pair of spectacles she found in a drawer. But the paintings hold the secret of a very evil magician.

Exploring the paintings, Olivde finds herself in some very difficult situations. But she manages to fight her fears in order to save her friend Morton, and to save herself and her family. She also meets three magical talking cats, the gardians of the house, and a nice beautiful looking lady in a portrait called Annabelle, and a friedly looking dog. But things are not always as they seem to be. Sometimes, people pretent to be good, when they are really evil. Finding out who your real friends are is very important.

"To get rid of the shadows, you'll need to bring the light."

Olive manages to fight evil against all odds. She finds courage in herself to defeat darkness and the shadows. She also proves to be very smart by figuring out a way to defeat the evil Old Man McMartin.

But what will happen with poor Morton. I just have to read the whole Elsewhere series to find out.
