Writen by Victoria Jamieson this is the only book on the list I have already read before they were announced.

I love comics, so I was imidiatelly drawn to the bright collours and action girl on the cover of the book. I al also a great fun of rollerbalding, skating and iceskating. And I love to draw. I have a lot of books with instructions how to draw caracters for comics. Victoria Jamieson is a skater herself. She is also an illustrator. If you are interested in illustration, like I am, you will be happy to know that you can download a free ebook on how Roller Girl was created http://www.victoriajamieson.com/free-e-book/.

Comics are as good for you as regular books. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

The Roler Girl is based on real life events that happened to Victoria and some of the characters are based on her real friends. The roller girl in this story is called Astrid, who is twelve years old and decides she wants to be a roller girl. Her best friend Nicole is not so keen about skating. Astrid joins a summer derby boot camp without her best friend. At first this is tough for Astrid. No best friend and she doesn't know how to skate. But later she learns how to make new friends and enjoy her newly discovered calling. Astrid becomes Asteroid. Although she wants to be the jammer, but she became a blocker.

A very good advice from Rainbow Bite: "if you want something badly enough, you just have to work harder than everyone else to get it".

Reading Roller Girl took me less then a day. And I enjoyed every bit.
